Fodder is a feed storage and usage tracking app for farmers. It is run by Kurtis Inman, a sole trader trading as Fodder, in Victoria, Australia (ABN 55 493 805 362). In this policy, “Fodder”, “we” and “us” mean that business, and “you” means the person using the app.
We collect as little as we can. You can use Fodder without an account, and then your records never leave your phone.
1. If you don’t sign in
Everything you enter stays on your phone, in the app’s own storage:
- your feed storages (names, types, pit and bucket sizes, ideal storage end dates)
- stock added, feed used, livestock on hand, weather and notes
- your reminder settings
We don’t receive any of it. Deleting the app deletes it. Reminders are scheduled on your phone and work without internet.
2. If you sign in (optional)
Signing in is only needed for Fodder Pro backup and sync. When you sign in we collect:
| Information | Why |
|---|---|
| Email address and an account ID | To sign you in and keep your records with your account |
| How you signed in (email, Google or Apple) | To sign you in again |
| A copy of your farm records (as listed in section 1) | Backup, and keeping your records the same on all your phones. This only happens with Fodder Pro. |
If you use Sign in with Apple, you can choose to hide your email, and Apple gives us a private relay address instead. Passwords are handled by Google’s Firebase sign-in service; we never see them.
3. Fodder Pro purchases
Fodder Pro is a yearly subscription bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google take the payment, and we never see your card or bank details. To check that your subscription is active on each of your devices, we use RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives a purchase ID linked to your Fodder account, the subscription status and renewal date, and which store it came from.
4. What we don’t collect
- location or GPS
- contacts, photos, camera or microphone
- phone number
- payment card details
- advertising IDs
- analytics or tracking of how you use the app
Fodder has no ads, and we never sell or rent your information.
5. Who stores and processes your information
We use these service providers only to run Fodder:
| Provider | What they do | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) | Sign-in, and storing your backed-up records | Records are stored in Sydney, Australia. Sign-in may be processed by Google in other countries, including the United States. |
| RevenueCat | Checking Fodder Pro subscription status | United States |
| Apple and Google | Taking subscription payments | Under their own privacy policies |
Where information is handled outside Australia, we use providers who protect it to standards similar to the Australian Privacy Principles. Google may also process technical information such as IP address and device details to keep its services secure. See Firebase privacy and security and RevenueCat’s privacy policy.
6. How we keep it safe
- Each account can only read and write its own records.
- Information is encrypted while it travels and while it is stored.
- Only you can see your records. We look at them only if you ask us to help with a problem and give us permission.
7. How long we keep it
- Records on your phone stay until you delete them or the app.
- Your account and backed-up records stay until you delete your account. They are then removed from our cloud straight away.
- If you email us, we keep the emails as long as needed to help you and for our business records.
8. Your choices and rights
- Use Fodder without an account. Nothing is sent to us.
- See or export your records. Fodder Pro can export everything as a spreadsheet (CSV) and a backup file (JSON). You can also ask us for a copy.
- Correct your records. Every entry can be edited or deleted in the app.
- Delete your account. In the app, go to Settings → Account and backup → Delete account, or see fodderapp.net/delete-account. Deleting your account doesn’t cancel a Fodder Pro subscription; cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account.
- Turn off reminders any time in Settings.
9. Children
Fodder is made for farmers and isn’t directed at children under 16. We don’t knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top and post the new version here. If a change is important, such as collecting something new, we’ll tell you in the app first.
11. Questions and complaints
Email support@fodderapp.net. We’ll reply within 30 days. If you aren’t happy with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
